Titusville Florida was founded in 1867 when Confederate Col. Henry Theodore Titus stepped ashore on the banks of the Indian River, to what was then known as Sand Point. Col. Titus and wife Mary, overlooking the Indian River, built the first hotel and named it "The Titus House". The Colonel and Mary donated land for the first courthouse, four churches, laid out many of the town's streets, and established a link to the outside world by connecting the St. Johns and Indian Rivers with mule-drawn wagons.
Titusville is home to several fun and interesting attractions which include the Enchanted Forest and Blackpoint Wildlife Drive. The “Historic Downtown” section of Titusville has several blocks of antique shops, cafes, gift and consignment shops, nearby is the Riverside Park, as well as several popular restaurants. Within one mile of downtown is the Titusville Municipal Marina with a ships store, a large seawall for viewing manatee and other marine life. There are two local airports in Titusville, Space Coast Regional Airport and Arthur Dunn Airpark in the northern Titusville offers sporting enthusiasts a chance to enjoy skydiving and ultra lights. Single and twin-engine aircraft use this airpark regularly. Space Coast Regional Airport is a full-service corporate and general aviation facility; it is conveniently located near Kennedy Space Center.
