The City of Melbourne Florida is located on the east central Florida Space Coast about one hour south of Kennedy Space Center and 1 ½ hours east of Disney World in Orlando. While most of Melbourne is located on the mainland, a small portion is located on a barrier island referred to by locals as ‘beachside”, consisting of Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Patrick Air Force Base, Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, Indialantic Beach, Melbourne Beach, Flordina Beach and Sebastian. This barrier is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Spanning the Indian River Lagoon and connecting Melbourne Florida to the barrier island are Melbourne Causeway, Eau Causeway and Pineda Causeway.

The Space Coast and Melbourne are known as the high-tech center of the Southeast with employers such as Harris Corporation, Rockwell Collins, the Florida Institute of Technology, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Holmes Regional Medical Center, Florida Today Newspaper, and Brevard Community College. Melbourne promotes economic development and is actively engaged in revitalization of several areas of the city. The Melbourne metropolitan area has been ranked as one of the most affordable in the nation for homebuyers in a survey by the National Association of Home Builders.

Melbourne has so much to offer from local attractions such as the Brevard Zoo and the Brevard Museum of Art and Science to the wonderful “Historic Downtown” section with is blocks of cozy cafes, ice cream shops, antique shops and historic buildings. From downtown we head north to Wickham Park with family time spent on horse riding trails, swimming in the lake and children enjoying the playgrounds.
